Position Summary and Responsibilities

This is a contingency hire position. A firm job offer will not be made until after contract award. The contract award is expected in the last quarter of the 2017 calendar year.

The Operations Engineer will assist the Government in performing oversight of the Anniston Static Detonation Chamber (SDC) and may support oversight activities at other Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives (ACWA) demilitarization sites. Typical work activities will include:

  • Provide technical input to the Anniston Field Office (AFO) to provide lessons learned from the baseline facility operation in the areas of process equipment, mechanical systems, maintenance, decontamination, and configuration management.
  • Provide engineering support to the AFO associated with the systemization, operations, and closure of the Anniston SDC in the areas of process equipment, mechanical systems, maintenance, decontamination, and configuration management.
  • Provide technical input to the Anniston Site Project Manager (SPM) regarding engineering changes and temporary configuration changes in support of the operation of the Anniston SDC.
  • Provide technical input to the SPM related to design documentation including vendor data, and accompany Government personnel at ongoing reviews, status meetings, and design discussions for the Anniston SDC.
  • Provide technical input to the SPM related to concept flaws, design inconsistencies, additional testing and evaluation requirements, and specific equipment interoperability issues.
  • Provide technical input to the AFO to provide lessons learned from the Anniston SDC closure.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

 

BS degree in engineering or engineering technology;

5 years’ experience with process equipment that includes systemization, operations, maintenance, decommissioning, and disposal;

Experience with explosive detonation technologies;

Experience in closure of a RCRA facility.
