Position Summary and Responsibilities

This is a contingency hire position. A firm job offer will not be made until after contract award. The contract award is expected in the last quarter of the 2017 calendar year.

Person filling this position will assist the Government in performing oversight of the Anniston Static Detonation Chamber (SDC) and may support oversight activities at other Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives (ACWA) demilitarization sites. Typical work activities will include:

  • Provide lessons learned from the baseline facility systemization and operations in the areas of instrumentation, process controls, and data acquisition/archival systems.
  • Provide engineering support to the Anniston Field Office (AFO) associated with the operation and closure of the Anniston SDC.
  • Provide to the AFO, lessons learned from the operation of the Anniston SDC for chemical munitions processing, conventional munitions processing, surrogate chemical processing monitoring, and emissions testing for use and consideration at other Program Executive Office (PEO) ACWA facilities.
  • Provide to the AFO, technical input related to the Anniston SDC operations to include control systems, control room operations, configuration management, munitions transfers, and munitions processing.
  • Provide technical input to the Anniston Site Project Manager (SPM) for the review of proposed engineering changes and temporary configuration changes in support of the operation of the Anniston SDC.
  • As a function of compliance with the RCRA and the CAA Permits, provide technical input to the SPM of design documentation. Technical input will also support the Government’s attendance in ongoing reviews, status meetings, and design discussions for the Anniston SDC.
  • Review documents, and identify and notify the AFO staff of concept flaws, design inconsistencies, additional testing and evaluation requirements, and specific equipment interoperability issues.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • BS degree in electrical engineering or engineering technology;
  • 5 years’ experience with industrial automation systems such as Allen-Bradley programmable logic controller (PLC);
  • 5 years’ experience in data acquisition and archival systems;
  • Experience in closure of a RCRA facility.
