Represents Teledyne Isco by providing on-site installation, repair and preventative maintenance on Teledyne Isco Liquid Chromatography instrumentation typically located in the San Francisco, CA area.
Knowledge of digital and analog circuitry with the ability to test, troubleshoot and repair electronic instrumentation usually acquired with an Associate’s Degree in Electronics Technology or one to two years of electronics instruction or General knowledge and experience using chromatography/HPLC, UV/Vis Spectroscopy type instrumentation as typical of a BS degree in chemistry or at minimum 2 years working with Teledyne Isco or similar instrumentation. Requires the ability to synthesize, coordinate and compile the measurements and observations made while logically troubleshooting circuitry or chemistry application independently at customer facilities.
Requires the ability to determine whether problems are instrument related or application/Chemistry related. Previous chemistry experience preferred. Consultation with Isco Application/Chemistry personnel is possible and may be required for difficult or rare separation related issues, but common chromatography problems are to be addressed directly by the Field Service Engineer with the customer.
Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with customers on a professional level. Must exercise tact and discretion while in discussions pertaining to instrumentation or instrumentation component failures or while presenting potential sample preparation problems.
Requires frequent grasping, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Requires occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling and lifting. Work requires constant visual ability. Work can be heavy with lifting of instruments that weigh up to 70 pounds.
Worker is subject to environmental conditions typical of a clean indoor laboratory environment.
A valid driver license is necessary coupled with a driving record that permits the use of rental automobile companies. Monthly automobile compensation or mileage reimbursement for use of personal automobile is provided.
This position requires surface travel (approximately 230 workdays per year) regionally with air travel outside of home territory (approximately 10 workdays per year).
This position is hourly, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time Monday thru Friday excluding company paid holidays, and includes paid overtime. Time clock is handled online. Company cell phone, laptop computer, printer etc. are provided. Access to the internet is required to complete paperwork. Internet charges up to $50/Month are reimbursed.
Instrumentation training on all Isco models will be provided at the factory. Additional training will take place while assisting other Field Service Engineer’s servicing their territory.
