    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Teledyne Controls is seeking a seasoned Senior Hardware Design Quality Engineer to the Product Hardware and Software Design Development Phases and product lifecycle activities including creative input to design/process development, design controls, quality planning, Risk Management, test method development, validation and post-market monitoring.


    Key Functions

    • Performing product life cycle data reviews and process audits.
    • Participating in product review meetings.
    • Witnessing/monitoring product qualification testing in laboratory environment.
    • Planning and performing hardware or software product conformity and First Article Inspection audits.
    • Preparing hardware or software quality assurance plans.
    • Performing Process or Product audits and generating audit reports.
    • Monitoring product development processes and auditing the hardware or software Development Folders to effectively assure conformance with overall system requirements, design and development processes, design verification, and system validation methods.
      • Support all aspects of Hardware Design on behalf of the Design Quality Assurance (DQA) Department by:
      • Interfacing extensively with Design Engineering and Program Management.
      • Performing reviews and approvals of drawings and related Hardware Design Documentation.
      • Participating with the CCB and MRB Process as a Design Hardware QE
      • Supporting Product transition processes to Manufacturing in collaboration with Factory Quality Control, Supplier Quality Control, and Manufacturing Engineering.
    • Generates daily, weekly and monthly Quality Metrics
    • Supports and conducts the Internal AS9100 Audits, customers requested audits, and internal audit program
    • Conducts Training and Technical interfacing under the guise of Design Quality Assurance (DQA)
    • Present oral and visual presentations during technical meetings and Staff Meetings
    • Follow direction and implement added scope objectives and activities outlined by Quality Management



    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering discipline
    • At least a minimum of ten (10) years’ of related experience and/or training
    • At least eight (8) years’ of which must be in Quality Assurance and Quality Engineering disciplines
    • At least five (5) years’ of experience in internal AS9100 Auditing
    • Advanced to expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Project, Visio, SharePoint
    • Must be able to provide guidance and establish quality positions regarding program development compliance issues to program management and engineering personnel
    • Must be thoroughly familiar with Aerospace Specifications
    • Thorough knowledge of the Change Control Board (CCB) and Material Review Board (MRB) function, Risk Management Process, and the ability to lead a Corrective Action Board (CAB) Quorum
    • Familiar with and have experience with drawing interpretation and inspection activities, product development processes, manufacturing processes and evaluation of problem solving techniques
    • Experience in Program Quality organizational activities as well as Project Management, Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering interface experience
    • Solid working knowledge of design documentation requirements for hardware and software developments in an avionics environment
    • Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with preparing Quality Metrics within a Quality Clinic protocol
    • This position may require up to 10 % - Domestic and International travel with notice
    • Must be a U.S. Person due to iTAR restrictions 


    • Lean manufacturing and six-sigma training
    • Working knowledge with compliance to RTCA/ DO-254, RTCA/DO-178 requirements
