Teledyne Microwave Solutions has over 50 years of experience in the design, development, and manufacture of sophisticated microwave/RF components and integrated assemblies for the most demanding challenges. Our products and capabilities are sought after by civilian and military organizations spanning numerous global markets, including Aviation, Communication, Electronic Warfare (EW/ECM/CIED), Industrial, Missile/UAV, Radar, Satcom, Space, and Test and Measurement. Teledyne Microwave Solutions invests heavily in research and development to maintain the ability to offer the world’s most advanced MW/RF capabilities for current and emerging challenges.
Teledyne Microwave Solutions (Mountain View Division) has an immediate opening for a Senior design engineer who will design and support space VCO product lines operating in the frequency from DC to 20GHz range and wide range of microwave components including but not limited to filters, amplifiers, mixers, detectors and associated subassemblies used on military, and high-reliability space programs.
Responsibilities include:
Design development or derivations drawn from existing designs, review customer specifications and acceptance for new opportunities, supports bid and proposal activities as assigned, analyze performance and specification trade-off, support program management on all new VCO orders and other space components.
Device evaluation and selection of discrete devices such as transistors, varactors to optimize circuit performances using design simulation tools AWR, Axiem, Sonnet, and HFSS. Optimize tradeoffs between gain, phase noise, modulation sensitivity, power compression, spurious. Hardware layout, component evaluation, prototype construction, and test.
Be able to work with minimum supervision to lead projects through technical customer reviews such as PDR (Preliminary Design Review), CDR (Critical Design Review), and MRR (Manufacturing Readiness Review), give presentations to management and customers.
Work with production team including technicians and production engineers to resolve technical issues. Generate manufacturing/test documentation for first time builds, technical investigations into hardware failures or out-of-spec conditions. Assist and resolve manufacturing issues impacting production run, especially on the VCO product line.
May assist in writing technical proposals and perform deratings and Worst-Case-Circuit-Analysis for various Space customers. Work with Document Controls to document new or modified existing designs.
Duties will also include the research and investigation of new technologies applicable to the design of VCOs and other microwave components, the evaluation of the new devices, MMIC and discrete, to assist in keeping the component production lines competitive. The support of obsolescence component replacement identifications and resolutions will also part of the duties.
