Designs, implements and operates/maintains the site’s server, storage, database, network, client, and/or communication infrastructure. Provides day-to-day technical support to employees for network infrastructure and internal desktop systems software and hardware, performs refreshes, and manages break-fix.
Work is performed under general direction. Participates in determining objectives of assignment. Plans schedules and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Exerts some influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve objectives would normally have a serious effect upon the administration of the organization. Key role as a team member. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- System Administration at assigned site(s) greater than 50% of time:
- System Backup Administrator – Manage the ComVault and Veristor backups for THO/CAM/COR. Administer the backup system; ensure that the backup schedules meet the company operational objectives, expand the system as needed; work with the infrastructure teams to implement standardized approach; and plan for necessary resources so that the system runs effectively. Develop and plan for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual restoration activities.
- System Administration Duties – Perform system administration duties for THO/CAM/COR including: new system setup, storage services, and networking. Devise and determine the best course of action to enable our new storage environment; work with data owners to plan for their data’s storage and access needs, plan the expansion of the data volumes to ensure they meet company needs, and plan/execute backup recovery testing on a continual basis.
- System Administrator for Classified Programs – Serve as a backup for the System Administration and Information Systems Security Officer activities for Classified programs. Plan and seek approval for classified system processing; work with the business to ensure that the systems meet the needs of the business; work with security to plan for meeting system security requirements in a classified environment; train individual users on system security processes and procedures.
- SOX Administrative Activities – Perform IT SOX audits for the Ventura Region. Plan and execute SOX Plan for THO/CAM/COR; conduct management level meetings to validate Corporate and TS&I applications level security and control. Advise management on remediation actions to be taken.
- Project Management - Plan, budget, monitor and report on status of assigned IT projects for THO/CAM/COR. Lead and assign project tasks to others on the team. Ensure that the project stays within the approved budget and schedule. Serve as the liaison between the business stakeholders and IT.
- VMWare administration and troubleshooting
- NetApp administration and troubleshooting
- Upgrade and update PC and Server software packages
- Install system hardware and perform system hardware refreshes for all sites being supported
- Review and record daily backup logs
- Maintain organization of the server room
- Network administration and troubleshooting; solve advanced network problems at the end-user level; LAN maintenance and networking - wiring, backup
- Network cabling activities, where applicable
- Manage permissions groups, OUs, and group policies in Active Directory
- Phone and voicemail system maintenance
- Provide IT support for all systems/applications that may be local to the site(s) being supported
- Deskside Support function at assigned site(s):
- Respond to, evaluate, and prioritize all tickets assigned to the site’s deskside support group and resolve issues efficiently and effectively
- Research and utilize necessary resources to troubleshoot new and complex problems
- Record and track interaction with end-users and related activities in the service desk tool
- Create Knowledge Base articles as repetitive issues arise
- Provide site IT support encompassing:
- PC configuration and troubleshooting - OS, hardware, and software;
- PC maintenance/preventative maintenance;
- Printer installation, networking, configuration and troubleshooting;
- New user setup on Active Directory network;
- Support for client applications;
- Troubleshooting phone issues that Help Desk cannot resolve and escalates to local support
- Support for peripherals such as monitors, scanners, external hard disks, USB devices, keyboards, mice, etc.
- Maintain department loaner equipment and administer checkout process
- Review and record daily event logs
- Call software and hardware vendors to request service regarding defective products
- Support equipment used in conference rooms and auditorium
- Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job may act as a lead and have indirect supervisory responsibilities for lower-level support staff.
