Position Summary and Responsibilities

Technically focused engineering lead responsible for developing test plans and procedures, schedule preparation, managing multiple concurrent projects, defining the design of technologies to support next generation equipment, while also addressing the sustaining needs of existing equipment. Determines project specifications by studying equipment design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.


Ability to lead a project from conception through to completion in a fast paced and challenging work environment. Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected to determine methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. May supervise the activities of others.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor the assigned engineering projects
  • Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications
  • Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel’s performance) and report regularly on project status
  • Assign responsibilities and mentor project team
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with project manager and other project participants to provide assistance and technical support
  • Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions


  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in mechanical, electrical, chemical, nuclear or related field from a four-year college or university and 6-12 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain 
  • Experience managing radioactive material and operations  
  • Basic Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100
  • Knowledge of specific software (Solidworks, Microsoft Office including Project)
  • Active Department of Energy Q-Clearance or the ability to attain/maintain government security clearance.
  • Ability to travel domestically, if needed, less than 10%.
