Summary
Under limited supervision, welds metal components together with brazing and variety of arc and gas welding equipment to fabricate or repair products such as machine parts, plant equipment, motors, and generators and performs manual and/or automated welding using resistance, electrical arc and open flame welding in natural or artificial atmosphere on all materials by performing the following duties.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities but may provide technical leadership to lower level welders including carrying out lead responsibilities in accordance with applicable regulations and laws and the organization’s policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to training employees, planning, assigning, directing work and resolving technically related work problems.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: Technical Diploma or specialized welding certification preferred such as CRAW, CWI or CWS. Minimum of 6 years of welding experience required. Demonstrated ability to read and understand all drawings, written instructions, shop math and measuring equipment required to perform the job.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and perform complex calculations Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend work and safety instructions, correspondence, and memos. Requires demonstrated ability to read, comprehend and interpret highly technical publications, specifications, orders, sketches, and design drawings.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to enter time and data into a computer system.
