Must have the ability, under minimum supervision, to set up programs and operate all types of CNC machinery that include 4 axis and 5 axis; make adjustments to adhere to established specifications or to correct programming; and make decisions as to quality, tolerances and operation sequence. Tasks and assignments include the complex and non-routine.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education including vocational training.
Typically requires a minimum of 8-10 years of machine shop experience.
Must have the ability to use shop mathematics, drawings and measuring tools; to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; to write routine reports and correspondence; to speak effectively with other employees of organization; to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry; to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
An individual should be able to enter time and data into a computer system as well as perform functions in the computer required for CNC operations.
Other skills and abilities include but not limited to basic knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100, working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen and knowledge of specific software (design, analysis, ERP…).
The ability to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl and push/pull are some of the physical demands required in order to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
