Position Summary and Responsibilities

Teledyne Brown Engineering (TBE) is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to provide expertise related to a cloud-based data warehouse.

 

Our team creates tools to equip military medical planners, providers, trainers, and logisticians with the capability to examine various courses of action before, during, and after deployment. The Senior Software Engineer will apply knowledge and techniques from the fields of software engineering or computer science to support requirements development, design, implementation, and testing of data warehouse and web service software for the Naval Health Research Center. The candidate will be working on a data warehouse application hosted in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud. The data warehouse contains medical data adjusted by subject matter experts to be used in other modeling and simulation applications. 

 

The candidate is expected to be an active member of the team, show initiative to resolve problems, meet project commitments, and effectively communicate issues and accomplishments to team members and customers. The candidate will be expected to mentor other software engineers and testers.

 

Day to day responsibilities include the following:

  • Apply object-oriented design and development techniques in the C# programming language
  • Diagnose bugs and design practical software features based on requests from users
  • Write complex queries and do general database maintenance tasks in Microsoft SQL Server
  • Provide full life cycle support (requirements, design, implementation, test, and configuration management) in a CMMI Maturity Level 3 environment
  • Produce documentation to capture requirements, technical concepts, software design, and user information
  • Conduct design and code reviews
  • Deliver presentations to peers and customers 

Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

  • B.S. degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar program.
  • 8 or more years of professional software development experience
  • 3 or more years of programming experience in C#
  • 3 or more years’ experience with relational databases and Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Experience with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and the Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) design pattern
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and Azure DevOps, formerly Team Foundation Server (TFS)
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
  • A passion for learning new technologies and keeping up with advancements in C#

 

Desirable Skills and Characteristics:

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server database administration and development, including stored procedures, triggers, indexed views, LocalDB, query performance analysis and tuning
  • Working knowledge of .NET Core development
  • Experience with development of web services
  • Understanding of deployment technologies such as ClickOnce, MSIX, and Windows Installer Xml (WiX)
  • Experience developing modeling and simulation (M&S) applications and a working knowledge of M&S concepts
  • Experience with Infragistics third-party components
