Teledyne Tekmar’s innovative, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) and Total Organic Carbon analyzer increase the productivity of analytical laboratories worldwide.  Teledyne Leeman Labs produces world-class instruments for elemental analysis like their Inductively Coupled Plasma spectrometer (ICP) and their fifth generation Mercury Analyzer.

Summary

 

Responsible for developing and implementing software of embedded devices and systems.  In addition, may be responsible for analyzing and monitoring the efficiency and stability of the system by probing the hardware with various test equipment.  Will be responsible for executing a complete embedded software development lifecycle.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Writes firmware for embedded processes as required and may write software code for desktop graphical user interfaces,
• Performs design, analysis and verification testing of a functional component (e.g. software module, embedded software module) for new product design
• Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing, debugging, and certification of software
• Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance
• Provides input for documentation of new or existing programs
• Interface with hardware design and development. Collaborate with hardware engineers.
• May interface with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications
• Supports, maintains and documents software functionality
• Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code
• May prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming
• Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues

Education and/or Experience

 

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university preferably in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field with 2-5 years of directly related experience and/or training. 

 

Required Skills and Abilities

• Proficient in C, C++ & C# (WPF & WinForms)
• Experience with C language development including the tools used to compile/assemble and debug code in an embedded environment.
• Experience using advanced debugging tools like oscilloscopes, voltmeters, JTAG, etc.
• Experience with developing “bring-up” code for new circuit boards
• Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools and peer review.
• Knowledge of different IP protocols, interfaces and hardware microcontroller subsystems such as SPI, I2C, CAN, GPIO, and RS232/RS485 communication.
• Experience working with 8,16- and 32-bit microcontrollers such as Freescale, PIC, and ST.

Other Desired Skills and Abilities

• Working understanding of preemptive multitasking and real time operating system theory
• Experience with board debugging and control of robotic motors, devices, and sensors
• Comfortable with MS Office and cooperative version control systems (SVN)
• Basic knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100
• Embedded firmware and RTOS or kernel based system
