Primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Performing analysis and M&S of the physics involved in design and development of the wind tunnel facility
  • Providing guidance to establish the system cooling requirements: perform thermal analyses, design of heating and cooling systems and transients for the system and system components
  • Providing advice on instrumentation, devices and test articles cooling systems
  • Providing guidance on acquisition of needed and modification of the existing software technologies necessary to adequately execute M&S thermal tasks
  • Providing advice and guidance on and performing validation and verification of M&S technologies
  • Participating in the program’s overall M&S effort in support of system concept development, design, integration, failure mode analysis, test, and validation.
  • Ensuring the technical adequacy and rigor of thermal M&S efforts
  • Reviewing, interpreting and presenting results of thermal M&S analyses
  • Developing and implementing applicable workflows, tools, and methods for thermal M&S effort
  • Collaborate with a joint aerothermodynamics team to coordinate efforts in defining wind tunnel system internal heat transfer rates and surface temperatures, including the instrumentation, devices and test articles
  • Collaborating with M&S staff across the program
