Position Summary and Responsibilities

Teledyne Brown Engineering is seeking a highly qualified engineer/analyst with experience in airframe or spacecraft structural analysis. In this role, the Analyst will evaluate primary and secondary spacecraft structure using classic analysis techniques and finite element tools, under moderate supervision. Projects will include NASA and commercial space projects. The Analyst will work in cooperation with the Project Lead Engineers and other highly-skilled, mechanically-inclined analysts and will interact with representatives from multiple disciplines within and outside Teledyne Brown Engineering. Duties will include conducting analyses, developing documentation, and presenting analyses to both internal and external customers.


Job Requirements
• Ability to use classical hand calculation and modern finite element methods to perform structural analysis and sizing of spacecraft primary and secondary structure
• Experience with the FEMAP pre-processor to build linear and non-linear static stress and stability models to be solved using NASTRAN
• Experience using FEMAP post-processor to extract loads, displacements, stresses, eigenvalues and modes from NASTRAN output data
• Experience using data from models and hand calculations to evaluate and size spacecraft structure
• Ability to interpret and apply NASA and TBE requirements and specifications
• Ability to develop engineering calculations, diagrams, and presentations
• Ability to produce well-written, concise, and easily understood technical reports for presentation to technical leads, senior leaders, and customers
• Support interactions with NASA and other TBE customers
• BS or MS degree in an engineering/technical discipline
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Must be a US Citizen with the ability to gain a security clearance should the work require it
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and understand design intent
• A willingness to take ownership of the work assigned
• Familiarity with NASA standards and specifications
• Have a desire for continuous learning and self-improvement

 

Qualifications

Preferred Capabilities/Experience
• BS in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with minimum of 5 years of experience performing stress analysis
• MS in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of experience performing stress analysis
• 3 years of experience using FEMAP/NASTRAN finite element software
• Experience with fatigue, fracture mechanics and dynamic loads
• Experience with FEMAP API programming
• Ability to code in VBA, particularly as it pertains to Excel
