Position Summary and Responsibilities

Teledyne Controls LLC is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer 3 to support the Aerospace Electronics business.  The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for managing, monitoring, and improving the overall quality metrics and performance of Teledyne Controls LLC's suppliers in accordance with the provisions and requirements as set forth in Teledyne Controls Quality Management System (QMS) and the Quality Policy and Procedures Manual (QPPM).  The successful candidate will also have responsibility for receiving and verifying Teledyne Controls LLCs' purchased products and its conformance to specified requirements.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:

  • Perform Initial supplier on site surveys, recurrent audits of supplier’s quality system, source inspection, and audit supplier’s processes and process Control.
  • Establish and implement Supplier performance improvement actions including, monitoring supplier’s proposed corrective actions, conducting supplier visits, monitoring supplier processes, and conducting scheduled supplier performance reviews with the suppliers of concern.
  • Ensuring that the Supplier operations remain compliant with ISO9001, AS9100, Corporate, Company, Regulatory, and all customer requirements.
  • Routinely review supplier quality performance and issue reports to the supply chain organization and where appropriate recommend supplier corrective action requests.
  • Perform first article inspection on incoming material and generate first article inspection (FAI) reports in accordance with AS9102.
  • Generate rejection reports to document non-conformance of material, chair Material Review Board (MRB), disposition rejection reports, and generate and administer the purge process.
  • Administration of the receiving inspection TIPQA database, including capturing supplier receiving inspection data and maintaining TIPQA reporting applications for supplier quality performance data, data trends and reports.
  • Plan and conduct internal supplier quality performance reviews to discuss suppliers’ performance and collaborate with other functional department to define required strategic actions toward improving the supplier quality performance.
  • Drive and coordinate quality issues related to supplier problems with Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Design Quality Assurance (DQA), Manufacturing Engineering, Production and Quality Engineering Departments.
  • Assemble Supplier Performance Data on Suppliers with greater 5% Rejection Rate for the quarter, investigate Supplier related issues at receiving inspection and/or production line related and initiate corrective action.
  • Act as liaison between Teledyne Controls LLC and the supplier on all quality issues;  assist other departments with supplier issues.
  • This position requires travel, primarily within the U.S. and to Teledyne’s other facilities. On the average, 8 to 10 business trips per calendar year will be needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in a related field and 5-10 years of directly related experience and/or training OR equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Minimum of five years of experience/knowledge of Aerospace and Defense products, systems technologies, regulations and standards.
  • Must be familiar with IPC-610 requirements and be able to read and review engineering drawings.
  • Must have a strong understanding of both AS9100 and ISO9001 Standards.
  • Must have a strong background in managing improvement efforts and projects.
  • Must be knowledgeable in manufacturing processes of electronic assemblies and mechanical parts.
  • Familiarity with FAA requirements, FAR Part 21 and 145, for new production and repair desirable.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal & written) with a demonstrated ability to influence and earn credibility and trust.
  • Experience with core Quality tasks (planning, control and improvement) with history in driving compliance and validation in all activities.
