Teledyne Brown is seeking an experienced, talented Senior Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Engineer to join our team in designing, developing, assembling and testing a hypersonic wind tunnel laboratory on Redstone Arsenal. This individual will work in a multi-disciplinary environment to successfully support the program's M&S needs throughout its life cycle.

Primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Advising program leadership and teammates with regards to M&S related concerns
  • Prioritizing, guiding and participating in the program’s overall M&S effort in support of system concept development, design, integration, failure mode analysis, test, and validation.
  • Ensuring the technical adequacy and rigor of all M&S efforts
  • Reviewing, interpreting and presenting results of M&S analyses
  • Developing and implementing applicable workflows, tools, and methods
  • Training, coaching and collaborating with M&S staff across the program

It would be highly desirable to have proficiency or familiarity with the following areas:

  • Proficiency with commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software (e.g., STAR-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent)
  • Proficiency with CAD and post-processing software
  • Proficiency with high-performance computing (HPC) resources
  • Proficiency with at least one scripting language (e.g., Perl, PowerShell, bash, etc.)
  • Proficiency with at least one general-purpose scientific computing language/environment (e.g., FORTRAN, Python, MATLAB, etc.)
  • Familiarity with issues associated with modeling of thermofluids
  • Familiarity with issues associated with modeling of multidisciplinary problem sets
  • Familiarity with system-level modeling tools (e.g., SIMULINK/SIMSCAPE, Modelica)
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary optimization methods and tools
  • Excellent analytical skills and good understanding of at least two of the following disciplines: gas dynamics, thermodynamics and chemical kinetics.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

 

B.S from four-year college or university in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related degree and a minimum of 15 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. M.S. or Ph.D. with coursework and/or research placing a heavy emphasis on physics-based modeling and simulation, highly desirable.
