Position Summary and Responsibilities

Performs die attach, wire bond, sealing and inspection on die chips in Clean Room and verifies the accuracy of all devices.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes the following:

  • Follows Clean Room requirements according to Company's Clean Room Procedures
  • Handles delicate / critical devices
  • Performs die attach, using eutectic as well as die attaching with silver glass / paste,
  • Performs wire bonding
  • Performs visual inspection before wire bonding
  • Performs 3rd optical inspections
  • Uses measuring devices and small hand tools to perform the tests
  • Uses a microscope for inspection
  • Maintains records, files and logs books.
  • Compares results with specifications and records test data .
  • Verifies equipment Calibration according to specifications.
  • Performs various testing requiring complex mathematical calculations
  • Performs sealing of solder seal and glass seal, using a BTU furnace, and  a SST equipment sealer
  • Loads sealing equipment manually
  • Performs die shear and bond pull tests on samples
  • Analyzes test results on defective units to aid in determining cause of failure
  • Performs in-process pre-cap
  • Performs final inspections
  • Verifies the accuracy of all devices
  • Reviews all records and documents to insure it's current as required
  • Moves jobs from one operation to another or transfers to another department, using computer
  • Handles classified material
  • Performs priming and coating devices
  • Performs visual inspection of the finished product.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Have at least six months experience in Clean Room
  • Must be familiar with all activities that go on in a manufacturing department
  • Must be able to use a microscope for inspections of die chips, wire bonding, and in-process inspections low and high power microscopes
  • Must be able to use gauge equipment for measuring thickness and depth
  • Must be able to read a bonding diagram and understand the correct die orientation including bond pads to post
  • Uses time efficiently.
  • Monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Is consistently at work and on time.
  • Must be able to perform statistical process control (SPC) and the understanding of charting the upper control limits and the lower control limits (UCL, LCL) required for this procedure.
  • Must be able to perform and handle classified material for priming, coating, visual inspection and sealing
  • Be able to train a lower level inspector to improve skills and product knowledge.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Be able to handle very small piece parts
  • Be certified on Clean Room and Company required Procedures
