Position Summary and Responsibilities

Teledyne is looking to hire a Test Engineer for an upcoming project involving the development of advanced thermoelectric materials and devices for space power applications.  The desired candidate will have experience with the full range of test functions for thermal fluid systems, including test plan development, hardware design, test bed controls and data acquisition development, as well as test data analysis.  Experience with high temperature and vacuum systems is a plus.  The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to work productively and independently in a dynamic environment on multiple projects.  The successful candidate will work with a team of development engineers and technicians to build and test prototype devices.  Additional opportunities in some of the other Teledyne Energy product lines will also be a career growth option

                                               

Work Description:

  • Working with the engineering team to define test requirements, design and develop test hardware and facilities for materials, components, and full systems.
  • Evaluate options for controlling and measuring power, voltage, current, temperature, pressure and flow in thermoelectric and fuel cell materials, components and systems. This includes high temperature and vacuum environments.
  • Lead design and fabrication of test platforms, as well as qualification of test systems. This includes test design innovations that best meet test requirements for advanced materials and systems, as well as design simplification for ease of assembly.
  • Design thermal and vacuum subsystems to support test platforms.
  • Develop test controls and data acquisition.
  • Develop test article assembly, test plans and test procedures.
  • Support tests across a number of product lines, include early development testing and final product acceptance testing.
  • Develop and maintain test logs, prepare simple test reports and archive data as needed. Prepare automated data collection systems.
  • Develop test approaches that provide clear performance and quality metrics for product acceptance and troubleshooting.
  • Support system level calibration and support instrument calibration

Qualifications

Required:

  • BS or MS in a relevant Engineering Field.
  • 5 or more years of experience in a product development environment similar to the work descriptions here.
  • Demonstrated experience with custom test equipment development including aspects related to the mechanical hardware design, control/instrument/data acquisition component selection and implementation, tester fabrication and assembly, programming and validation.
  • Demonstrated experience with LabVIEW software, National Instruments, Allen Bradley, or other similar hardware/software solutions for tester command, control, and data acquisition.
  • Self-motivated and good problem solving skills.
  • Good communication skills.

 

Desired:

  • Experience with thermoelectric or fuel cell technology.
  • Experience with high temperature materials and vacuum systems.
  • Experience with RGA, SEM and other analytic instruments
