Position Summary and Responsibilities

The Senior Process Engineer will have responsibilities to help maintain engineering and processes to deliver high performance commercial, military and Space qualified products. The Senior Process Engineer will identify and lead continuous improvement of design and manufacturing processes to produce the best quality product. In addition, the Senior Process Engineer will work closely with TO Research Machine Shop and external sources to ensure products are built to specification, as well as address any issues in manufacturing the parts.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Works closely with the Package Design Team to carry out the implementation of new package designs for FPA’s.
  • Support the design and build of PCB/PCBA’s for Space level packages
  • Acts as the liaison between the design team and production to assure the parts are materials are designed for manufacturability.  This includes facilitating MRR’s. 
  • Works closely with Mission Assurance to develop Space level qualification requirements for new package designs
  • Maintains manufacturing BOMs and ensures all engineering documentation is accurate and up to date in the Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) system.
  • Develops, prepares, and maintains manufacturing process routings.
  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement of product quality through lean throughout the build cycle.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and work-flow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Provides technical support to management as needed.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement of product quality through lean manufacturing concepts and activities. Develops improved manufacturing techniques to reduce product cost, reduce cycle time and improve quality/reliability.
  • Routinely works with suppliers on the manufacturing and assembly of components to ensure the products are meeting agreed specifications according to drawings, SOW’s, SPC’s, quality codes, etc.
  • Able to create/edit WI’s and travelers for assembly and test technicians to adhere to for the assembly and test of components. 


To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:


  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
  • Proven ability to improve manufacturing processes, product quality and a focus on manufacturability
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal skills and the desire to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Advanced computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Displays exemplary ethics and business conduct and performs work cognizant of safe work practice
  • Proficient in SolidWorks drafting software
  • Ability to travel on short notice up to 25%
  • Experience working with and communicating with technical customers


Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related Engineering field with 5-10 years of experience
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement, TPS, Kaizen, 5S, JIT
  • Six Sigma / Lean Certification a plus
  • Programming skill a plus
  • ISO or AS9100
  • CMOS Sensor experience a plus
  • Capable of debugging issues during build or returns from customer
