Position Summary and Responsibilities

The Lead Analyst – IT Client Infrastructure will be responsible for the design, implementation and operation / maintenance of Teledyne’s client infrastructure (over 100 locations in the United States, Canada, UK, Mexico).  Client infrastructure includes desktop hardware and software, messaging / email, and directory services (e.g. Active Directory).  The lead positions will be the architect for Teledyne’s client infrastructure and work closely with the manager of the group to set the strategy and direction for the team.  The position will not have direct management responsibilities; however, will act in a lead role. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. IT Client Infrastructure Policy, Process and Standards – The position will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining client solutions consistent with IT infrastructure policy, processes and associated standards. This includes asset management and license compliance from both a hardware and software perspective.
  2. E-Mail Environment – The position will also be responsible for the administration and maintenance of the organization's email / messaging system(s). These systems include an on-premise system along with Office 365 Commercial and GCC-High environments. Works with the design, development, implementation, and optimization of messaging systems.  Ensures the consistency and compatibility of all messaging applications.  Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.  Monitors server performance and mail routing.  Creates user accounts and maintains security levels on databases. Provides third-level support and troubleshoots the most complex issues. Monitors existing messaging infrastructure and server usage, ensuring proper working order. Document internal policies or develop training for end-users.
  3. Automation – The position will be responsible for some automation and scripting via MS Powershell. Ideally will assist in converting routine manual processes to automated scripts.
  4. Directory Services – The position will be responsible for enterprise directory services (primarily Microsoft Active Directory). This will include the architecture of the environment, maintenance, security, and administration. 
  5. Desktop Environment – The position will be responsible for the client desktop. This includes architecture of the environment, maintenance, security, and administration.  The position will be responsible for evaluating hardware and operating system software on the desktop, establishing the standard desktop image, establishing the desktop build process and determining how new software is evaluated and installed.   Improves desktop hardware and software processes and supports critical business strategies by managing the development, installation, vendor selection, maintenance and repair of desktop equipment. 
  6. Lifecycle Refresh – The position will work closely with the manager to establish and execute the lifecycle refresh for the IT Client Infrastructure team. Close coordination with the IT Service and Support organization (specifically the deskside group) will be required.
  7. General Support – The position will have support responsibilities specific to the most complex client infrastructure problems. Support will require troubleshooting malfunctions of hardware and software applications, and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.

Note:  The person in this position will have an understanding of all components of Client Infrastructure, however, will likely have expertise in one of the three technical areas covered by the position (i.e. Messaging / Email (e.g. Exchange / Outlook), Directory services (e.g. Active Services), and Desktop (Hardware / Software)).  Area of emphasis will be based on current need

Education and Experience                                                    

  • Bachelors degree in Computer related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 10 - 15 years of relevant experience 

Excellent hands on experience with the following Products / Technologies:

  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • Microsoft Office 365 Commercial
  • Microsoft Office 365 GCC-High
  • Microsoft Exchange Server and Messaging Platforms – High Availability Models
  • Powershell scripting and Automation
  • Network Operating System Supporting Technologies (DNS, DHCP, etc…)
  • Desktop Operating Systems
  • Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.)
  • Familiarity with desktop applications
  • Client side virtualization technologies and associated concepts
  • End-Point Anti-Virus software and strategies
  • Remote Management Methodologies; Microsoft System Center & Operations Manager, and configuration management and monitoring system concepts (e.g., WMI, SNMP, etc.)
  • Support ticketing systems, change control methodologies and their importance to ITIL best practices
  • IT security concepts and best practices
  • Some ability with scripting
  • Business Recovery practices

Other Qualifications

  • Active Government Security Clearance preferred
  • US Citizenship with ability to attain/maintain government security clearance required
  • Ability to lead small cross team projects
  • Consistently responsible member in on-call rotation - after-hours availabilty, as needed
  • Ability to travel approximately 5% of time
