Position Summary and Responsibilities

Teledyne Scientific Company (TSC) has an immediate opening for an entry-level Research Engineer position in the Integrated Systems and Solutions Division. The Division specializes in developing, prototyping, and demonstrating cutting edge technologies for imaging, sensing, and timing. The position requires test and measurement development, including design of hardware and software for automation. The position is located at TSC’s Thousand Oaks, CA facility.


Essential duties:

  • Apply Electrical Engineering/Physics background to design and improve devices at the hardware and firmware level, on both devices under test and custom test equipment
  • Develop and implement test methodologies for new devices/systems delivering novel solutions to a broad range of problems including reliability and lifetime, sensing, signal and data analysis, and autonomous systems
  • Work within a team to test and develop algorithms and firmware to control and integrate optical, electro-optic, and opto-mechanical devices and systems
  • Maintain and administrate test result database


Desired skills, experience, and qualities:

  • Strong, hand-on lab experience and familiarity with electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, optical detectors, power meters
  • Experience with common programming languages (Matlab, Python, C#) desired
  • Low-level programming (C, DSP/microcontrollers), circuit design, and prototyping experience desired
  • Basic understanding of relational database management or design (SQL) desired
  • Excellent technical judgment, data analysis, and interpretation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Passion for new technology development and creative thinking



BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics. Fresh and recent graduates only
