Position Summary and Responsibilities

Teledyne Marine Systems is seeking an Applications Engineer to help solve technical issues, provide customer support, provide customer training and demonstrations, and work with customers to create custom solutions using Teledyne products. The Applications Engineer will act as a conduit between the Customer, Product Line Managers, and the Teledyne Engineering Department.  Responsibilities will also include some in-house sales support and sales order assistance. Applicants must be willing to travel internationally and work on sea going vessels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work to become local technical expert on assigned products and product lines
  • Work with customers to create custom solutions using Teledyne products
  • Ability to creatively solve customer problems and design solutions based on customer needs
  • Provide customer support, provide customer training and demonstrations
  • Act as a conduit between the Customer, Product Line Managers, and the Teledyne Engineering Department
  • Provide in-house sales support and sales order assistance
  • Ability to learn and understand complex technical requirements, understand and write technical documents
  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to travel a minimum of 25% of the time, international and domestic
  • U.S Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance



  • BS in Engineering or applicable Scientific Field
  • 2 – 4 years of experience showing ability to diagnose, mechanical, electrical and software issues and provide solutions on complex systems
  • Hands on experience designing, building, and or repairing electro mechanical systems
  • Experience working closely with customers in sales, customer service, or technical capacity
  • Experience with a CRM system such as, preferred
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office products is essential: Excel, Word and Power Point

 Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Previous experience designing, operating, and repairing oceanographic systems
  • Knowledge of digital communication schemes and software programming
  • Previous experience in technical sales and customer service
  • Previous seagoing experience on large vessels
  • Small boat experience

  • Occasional lifting up to 50lbs. to include demo systems, laptop computer, and promotional materials
