Position Summary and Responsibilities

  • Build/Assemble test fixtures for battery cell testing
  • Perform electrical evaluations of battery cells using high accuracy battery cycling equipment
  • Write battery cell test procedures using Maccor Build Test software
  • Conduct transportation validation testing per 49 CFR §173.185
  • Use and calibrate environmental test chambers for performing cell battery testing
  • Troubleshoot and correct problems encountered during testing
  • Make use of various meters, power supplies, thermocouples, sensors, tweezer welders, soldering systems, balances, gauges, and lab scale tools for testing battery cells
  • Maintain accurate records using database tools
  • Maintain, organize, and manipulate data files using Microsoft® Office products in conjunction with customized macro tools
  • Generate test reports
  • Rotating on-call duties (typically 1 week period of 24/7 availability) for alarmed equipment malfunctions



  • Vocational or Technical Certificate in scientific or engineering field
  • 5 – 10 years of directly related experience
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to read and comprehend work and safety instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Understanding of rudimentary software programming structures (loops)
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft® Office products
  • Excellent record keeping skills
  • Active Government Security Clearance or US Citizenship with ability to attain/maintain government security clearance



  • Associates degree or higher
  • Maccor battery tester or equivalent (Arbin, Bitrode, Digitron Firing Circuits, Chroma, or PEC) experience
  • Electrical experience, ac and dc
  • Soldering certified
  • Experience with environmental chambers

Citizenship Requirements

Due to classified work at the facility and related access restrictions, successful applicants must maintain U.S. Citizenship to allow the person to hold a U.S. Government security clearance.
