    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Teledyne Brown Engineering is looking for a mid-level safety professional that wants to make the world a safer place. Become part of the team working to eliminate the legacy of chemical weapons. We have an opening for a safety engineer supporting the Recovered Chemical Materiel Directorate (RCMD) at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD (APG).

    In this role you will interface with RCMD staff and other project stakeholders to provide safety and risk management support to RCMD systems and programs. As a member of the RCMD support contractor team you will:

    • Facilitate ongoing compliance with applicable Department of Defense (DoD) and Army Regulations, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety standards, and Department of Transportation (DOT) hazardous materials transport requirements.
    • Perform and document routine audits and inspections of RCMD site facilities and operations to evaluate compliance with regulatory health and safety requirements.
    • Assist program staff in developing compliance solutions.
    • Review existing plans and procedures for compliance with applicable federal, State, and local laws and regulations. Develop new operational, and health and safety documentation for future RCMD operations.
    • Coordinate, conduct, and participate in Preoperational Surveys by preparing survey plans, establishing survey test contingencies and exercises, writing survey reports, and documenting the survey in the Preoperational Survey database.
    • Prepare and submit a report every month detailing the safety activities completed for the period.

    This is a full time position, co-located with the team in the RCMD office on APG, with occasional travel to field sites for Preoperational surveys or observing operations.


    Required to carry a company cell phone and be available for consultation 24/7 in the event of an incident.


    Minimum five years’ experience in occupational health and safety in a hazardous chemical and/or hazardous waste operation.

    Requires a favorable National Agency Check or DoD clearance.

    CSP or similar certification (CIH, CHMM, etc.)

    Familiarity with RCMD destruction technologies is a plus.

    Working knowledge of OSHA, DoD, and Army safety regulations covering occupational safety and health, radiation, explosives, and chemical agent.

    Ability to wear respiratory protective equipment (gas mask) and common occupational PPE (hard hat, safety shoes, eye and hearing protection.

    Proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    Citizenship Requirements

    Due to classified work at the facility and related access restrictions, successful applicants must maintain U.S. Citizenship to allow the person to hold a U.S. Government security clearance.
