    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Position Overview:

    Under close supervision, performs post molding processes including trimming flash and gates from molded components meeting product specifications while ensuring safety and quality standards. This includes a wide variety of repetitive and non-repetitive operations of a semi-skilled nature to produce exceptionally high-quality products.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Use a variety of hand &/or power tools (i.e. razors, diagonal cutters and other trimming / cutting instruments) to perform de-flashing of rubber molded parts. 
    • Trimming and de-flash delicate fiber optic components, requiring a high degree of accuracy and precision.
      • Inspect parts ensuring dimensional and quality requirements of components.
    • Responsible for post curing and testing processes for molded components.
    • Support stockroom kitting of materials.
    • Support Machine Shop in deburr operations when necessary.
    • Recommend process improvements in production methods, equipment performance, and product quality and employee safety.
    • Actively participate in team problem solving methods for product quality enhancements.
    • Learn entry-level material transactions and labor reporting on MRP planning system.
    • Report accurate information within the ERP system in a timely fashion
    • Communicate written and verbal technical issues to management and engineering for problem resolution.
    • Must be flexible to operate in multiple departments and rapidly changing work environments to meet business goals.
    • Maintain excellent communication and working relationships with all departments within the company.
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/lead of the department.
    • Continuous use of Teledyne approved PPE (personal protective equipment).
      • The use of Safety Glasses is required when walking throughout all production areas of the facility.
      • Continuous use of cut gloves while performing the job tasks.
      • Safety shoes as required per Teledyne ODI policy.
      • Comply with, and assist in the enforcement of all company safety policies


    Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Manufacturing experience preferred


    Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Excellent hand / eye coordination.
    • Extremely organized.
    • Ability to read and interpret standard measuring devices (i.e. tape measure, dial caliber, etc).
    • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures as used in a lean manufacturing environment.
    • Computer Literate - proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, ERP/MRP (helpful).
    • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to read drawings and follow procedures to completion of job.
    • Must be a team player.
    • Achieve an intermediate level of proficiency in the following skill sets:
    • Report transactions into IFS
    • Inventory transactions
    • Writing MRB cases
    • Ability to work with changing demands in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent communication skills.
