    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Position Summary

     

    Process Engineer is a hands-on position for executing and supporting semiconductor detector processing activities of high performance infrared and visible detector arrays. This position requires working alongside the wafer processing team in the cleanroom and effectively communicating ideas with team members.

     

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    The primary duties and responsibilities are as follows. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    • Detector process development and wafer fabrication, including wet and dry etch, annealing, photolithography, passivation, metallization and microscopic inspection
    • Interaction with other engineers in material growth, wafer processing and detector testing to develop and improve material layer structures, detector designs and processing methods
    • Design of experiments, data analysis and SPC process controls for effective process improvement and development for production
    • Assurance of all processes performed per procedures, work instructions and workflow and in compliance with safety and cleanroom procedures
    • Cross-department collaboration to leverage existing or emerging production capabilities within the company
    • Following and understanding of cleanroom protocol and quality standards
    • Prompt documentation and reporting of nonconforming events in production and troubleshooting of processing related issues.
    • Working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for reporting and tracking
    • Ability to work flexible schedule and additional hours as needed

    Qualifications

    Qualifications & Competencies

                                                   

    To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:

     

    • Strong knowledge and background in opto-electronic semiconductor materials and devices, particularly HgCdTe materials, but also including Silicon and III-V semiconductor materials, processes and devices
    • Strong technical knowledge in engineering and/or chemistry and semiconductor processing methods.
    • Effective communication (written and verbal) of very complex ideas with the ability to communicate to any level of audience.
    • A team player and effective interaction with fellow engineers and peers.
    • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
    • Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
    • Exemplary ethics and business conduct and work cognizant of safe work practices
    • Ability to apply company policies and procedures to daily work and resolve issues

     

     Education and/or Experience

                                                     

          Bachelor's Degree with minimum 5 years of experience or Master Degree with minimum 3 years of experience in semiconductor processing

          Training in cleanroom operation and laboratory practices including ESD precautions for handling of sensitive semiconductor devices

          Semiconductor process development experiences, particularly in dry and wet etch technology, passivation, and process controls desired

          Experience in project management, risk management, cost account management, cost estimation and engineering planning is highly desired

     

    Citizenship Requirements

     

    Due to the type of work at the facility and certain access restrictions, successful applicants must be a U.S. Citizen.
