    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Technician for satellite communications industry. Responsibilities will include troubleshooting, repair, alignment, and testing, of solid state microwave power amplifiers and block upconverters. Requires diagnostics skills related to power amplifiers, power supplies, upconverters, linearizers and a working knowledge of serial/Ethernet monitor and control (M&C) interface. Potential to assist in customer servicing of product via hands on repair, phone/e-mail correspondence, and field support.

     

    1. The immediate requirements of this position will require travel to another Teledyne division for training to fully understand their existing Test and Alignment methods and techniques. They will then be expected to bring that knowledge back to MEC to set up a Product returns/repair line. They will be responsible for evaluating returned products, troubleshooting, then estimating repair hours for test and assembly. They will be expected to do minor repairs, soldering skills are required, then re-alignment and functional testing of the repaired units.
    2. After the transfer, the expectation is that this technician will monitor trends in returns/defects and suggest manufacturing improvements to both Design and Manufacturing engineering. They will be expected to provide suggestions for performance and reliability improvements for our products.

    Qualifications

    Two year associates degree in electronics or equivalent military/work experience. Job requires interest in applying hands-on skills to tune, troubleshoot and test RF (radio frequency) and microwave circuits applying principles and theories of electronics and electrical circuits.

    Ability to travel 30-50% in the first 6 months.

    Solid computer skills.

    Due to classified work at the facility and related access restrictions, successful applicants must maintain U.S. Citizenship to allow the person to hold a U.S. Government security clearance.
