    TESP is an operating unit of Teledyne Technologies. TESP is located in Chatsworth, California, and has been manufacturing products since 1986.  

    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    The position, Engineering Manager, will supervise a team of engineers and technicians by assigning tasks and projects as well as being responsible for their development.


    • Primarily design and development of high reliability electronics for Department of Defense programs.
    • Prepare contract submittals per DIDs and MIL-SPEC requirements.
    • Conduct and/or oversee product development projects from inception to production.
    • Provide guidance to design engineers and engineering designers.
    • Work with customers telephonically and in person to resolve issues related to product development programs or when supporting the quote process.
    • Participate in quote activities and prepares engineering quotations
    • Improve the design of existing products
    • Conduct product failure analysis and define appropriate corrective action.
    • Support production department to resolve detailed part and assembly problems.
    • Contact and work with suppliers when requested by purchasing to clarify engineering drawing issues.
    • Oversee the work performed by the technician responsible for developing, fabricating and testing all test tooling required for production.
    • Work with drafting personnel in preparation of engineering drawings as well as checking and approving their work.
    • Provide training of engineering personnel.
    • Customer travel in support of new business development.
    • Manage the preparation of technical proposals.
    • Monitor and maintain department schedules.


    • BS in Electrical Engineering from accredited university
    • 15 years of direct experience with Department of Defense programs and their requirements.
    • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to present to large groups of individuals
