    Position Summary and Responsibilities


    We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Senior R&D laboratory Technician position reporting to the Engineering Manager. This person will assist in the development of gas analyzers used for ambient air quality monitoring and will report to the Engineering Manager.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities within the lab. Other responsibilities include, conducting development and verification testing, assembling associated test fixtures and prototype assemblies, and producing documentation such as test plans, procedures and reports.

    Applicants applying to this position must reside or will be residing within the San Diego County area. The daily work hours are 8am to 5pm.



    • Oversee the daily activities within the lab and prioritize project activities with other technicians.
    • Implement Engineering Lab upgrades and manage general day to day upkeep.
    • Ensure that safe lab practices are employed and good housekeeping is maintained.
    • Create test plans, procedures and reports associated with design verification activities.
    • Data collection, manipulation and analysis using common statistically conclusions in a clear and concise format methods.
    • Provide preliminary interpretation of results and present appropriate conclusions in a clear and concise format.
    • Conduct verification testing on a variety of mechanical, chemical and electronic components in accordance with written and/or verbal instructions from Product Engineers.
    • Design and construct test fixtures and setups associated with design verification activities.
    • Diagnose product problems using a methodical approach and clearly communicate findings to engineers.
    • Maintain complex test equipment, including scheduling necessary calibration and preventative maintenance.
    • Provide regular status reports on assigned tasks.



    • Minimum Associates degree in engineering, math, related field of science, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum 8 years of experience in an engineering lab & product development environment.
    • Have the desire to work in a fast paced and challenging work environment.
    • Working knowledge of electromechanical components.
    • Hands-on skills using test equipment.
    • Strong problem solving skills.
    • Ability to make sound technical decisions and complete tasks with limited supervision.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experienced with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and other office productivity software. 


    • Experience with optical gas measurement technologies.
    • Working knowledge of gas flow concepts and pneumatic control components.
    • Ability to have parts fabricated, through the use of standard drafting practices, for test jigs and fixtures.
    • Prior experience conducting detailed design verification testing.


    • This position will involve repetitive work utilizing a computer, keyboard, and mouse.
    • The position will require frequent standing, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, walking, turning, and twisting.
    • The position will require occasional lifting of objects of 60lbs with assistance.
