    Teledyne Controls is seeking a seasoned Systems Engineer that can provide technical leadership in our airplane Data Acquisition product line. In this capacity, you will work with and mentor software and hardware engineers to ensure the design solutions meet customer and company internal requirements. Key areas of your work include product definition, systems analysis, requirements management, testing and in-service support. 

     

    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    The Systems Engineer 4 is expected to autonomously develop an understanding and working knowledge of Commercial Avionic Data Management related systems and equipment and apply this knowledge to support conceptual proposals, functional partitioning, mechanical structures, top level and detailed requirements creation/ verification, system integration of electrical systems, embedded computers, and software modules within aircraft as well as ground-based infrastructures. Knowledge of industry standards and specifications, such as, ARINC, RTCA and OEM Specifications is essential.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; Other duties may be assigned.

    • Develop System Architecture – Based on an understanding of the operational needs and requirements of the customer (internal or external), develop a total system solution comprised of Teledyne designed or purchased hardware products and software.
    • Conduct engineering trade studies.
    • Utilize modeling and simulation techniques in system definition and development as required.
    • Understand Enterprise and Industrial Information Security and intrusion prevention concepts and the application of those concepts to commercial aircraft architectures.
    • Support the development of Concept of Operations (ConOps) working with customers to understand and document how the system will be employed by the users in an operational setting.Reviews customer requirements for adequacy and resolves/clarifies any ambiguous, redundant or unverifiable requirements.

    Requirement Creation/Management – Develop and manage unit and system requirements.

    • Review customer requirements for adequacy and clarify any ambiguous, redundant or unverifiable requirements.
    • Engage Teledyne Business Development group, Teledyne customers and other external organizations for establishing pertinent product/system requirements.
    • Create Systems Requirements Specifications (SRS) from customer requirements.
    • Generate lower level requirements and allocate to the specific disciplines.
    • Ensure traceability from customer requirements to the SRS to the Hardware and Software Requirements Documents.
    • Generate Requirements Traceability, Compliance and Verification Matrices as required.
    • Functionally allocate requirements and determine compliance status.
    • Generate internal (at the LRU module level) and external (at the LRU level) Interface Definition Document (IDD) documentation.
    • Review and coordinate the work products generated by engineering for compliance to the requirements

    Validate/Verify Design – Participate in System Integration, Design Verification and Validation, Qualification and Aircraft Certification efforts.

    • Prepare and execute Systems Engineering, Integration and Test Plans including coordinating related activities with Teledyne customers.
    • Generate and execute System Test Procedures to verify hardware and software functions at the unit and system level
    • Provide aircraft certification support.

    Project/Program Management – Support in the following areas:

    • Prepare and maintain a Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP).
    • Prepare, review and conduct internal and customer Design Reviews.
    • Support Program Reviews.
    • Support System Integration, Design Verification and Validation and Qualification efforts.
    • Report status to the Program Office and System Lead.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with minimum 12 years experience in Systems Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Knowledge of commercial Avionics Systems related equipment required.
    • Ability to write complex systems requirements documents, technical white papers and technical proposals required.
    • Clear documentation and presentation skills required. Comfortable working on-site at major aerospace OEMs, domestically and abroad.
    • Hands-on experience with integration design and execution in hardware, software and system labs required.
    • Experience dealing with the formal qualification of environmental, electromagnetic, system safety (including Failure Mode Analysis), system security and aircraft certification required.
    • Ability to use environmental, electrical, software evaluation and debugging tools required.

    Preferred

    • Familiarity with hardware and software Design Assurance requirements (level C through E).Design Portioning, Digital Communication, Software Structures.
    • Familiarity with basic electronic measurement tools and analyzers is generally required. Problem solving and adaptation of skills are considered important.
    • Familiarity with configuration control, requirements tracking systems, and technical documentation.
