    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Position Overview:

    The Commodity Manager is responsible for the strategic sourcing, procurement, and management of electrical parts and indirect spend with strong attention to cost, quality and building strong supplier relationships. This position will identity key parts within the Teledyne Marine segment and work with our Suppliers to attain long term agreement pricing. Key to this position is the ability to manage large scale multi-site RFQs, oversee strategy execution and analyze global market trends and conditions of assigned commodities. This is a highly visible position requiring the ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders in a multi-site organizational matrix.


     Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develop commodity roadmaps that align business requirements with industry and supplier capabilities
    • Identify, evaluate, select, and integrate new suppliers and technologies for designated commodities or areas of spend
    • Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, understanding their needs and consulting with them to build quality procurement strategies aligned to business requirements
    • Manage and develop strong relationships with key suppliers, dealing with any potential issues and concerns, and attending regular meetings to ensure open communication
    • Prepare and managing Requests for Quotations and coordinating the proposal and selection process including driving implementation of Master Supply Agreements/Contracts
    • Manage the assigned suppliers/commodities on an on-going basis to ensure that the businesses needs for cost, service and operational execution are maintained or improved
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for project delivery methods, costs and quality
    • Ensure that suppliers operate in full compliance with Teledyne’s policies for supplier compliance, risk and diversity
    • Develop and drive strategic goals while also completing tactical, working level tasks as required


    Education and Experience:

    • Minimum of AS degree in related Supply Chain, Operations or technical discipline
    • 3-5 years direct experience in managing commodities and/or related supply chain experience for electrical components and assemblies required
    • 3-5 years experience in managing commodities and/or related supply chain experience with indirect material procurement preferred  
    • LTA/MSA contract negotiation, management and execution experience required
    • Experience in a multi-site centralized Supply Chain organizational structure preferred


    Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Requires demonstrated experience managing commodities
    • Strong verbal, written, negotiating, presenting and analytical skills
    • Must demonstrate a proven track record to prioritize, organize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlines across multiple time zones
    • Must possess proficient knowledge of the workings of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software
    • Knowledgeable of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP)
    • Demonstrated significant technical knowledge within the commodity managed
    • Proven experience assessing requirements, negotiating and executing supply contracts and or service agreements with a focus on maximizing PPV
    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time
    • Must demonstrate a proven knowledge and understanding of the global markets that impact the managed commodity
    • Ability to understand, analyze and use components of costs in driving cost savings and efficiencies.
    • Aptitude to quickly and efficiently identify new sources and technologies as requested by Engineering Design teams and perform advanced due diligence including technical capabilities, audits, commercial assessments, supply chain verification, capacity constraints and establishing a preferred customer status
    • Demonstrated ability to prepare for, coordinate, manage and execute QBR’s and Quarterly Negotiations
