The selected engineer will perform, and/or supervise the performance of electrical and/or instrumentation and controls and systems design, engineering, testing and maintenance efforts including preparation of test plans, procedures and reports.
The engineer will support testing including data collection. This position will support one or more engineering projects performing design engineering and integration on DOD, DOE, commercial nuclear, and commercial industrial process programs.
Experience working within the requirements of an ASME NQA-1 QA program and DoD or DOE Systems Engineering processes is a plus. Also familiarity and experience designing to the requirements of NFPA 70 (National Electric Code) and UL 508A is a major plus.
Responsibilities may include, development of design basis documents, system description documents, design and procurement specifications, electrical and/or Instrumentation & controls design packages and PLC programming. The design packages may include documents such as control logic diagrams, wiring diagrams and schematics, block diagrams, interface control documents, electrical load &/or power sizing calculations, instrument setpoint calculations power and control cabinets etc.. Sizing, design and selection of electrical and/or instrumentation & controls equipment and components will be required. A critical aspect of work is the design integration of control systems power panels and cable layouts.
Duties may include CAD drawing or modeling and performing design analysis and calculations, checking and verification, along with collaborating and interfacing with other functional areas such as mechanical and structural design, manufacturing, QA, procurement and configuration management .
Requires a B.S. degree in a recognized field of engineering and a basic knowledge of analysis, design and test techniques. No prior work experience is required. Co-op or related sub-professional experience is desirable, but no mandatory.
