    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Position Summary:

    The Deposition Technician provides technical and hands-on development to Teledyne Imaging Sensors’ highly complex Thin Film Optics production and development programs to ensure project completion is on schedule and within budget. The Deposition Technician also recommends and implements improvements to processes, methods and controls.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Operates coating equipment for the production and development of laser protective coatings
    • Performs chamber and materials preparation, substrate cleaning and loading, and deposition startup and finish
    • Reviews schedules, engineering specifications, process flows, and other information to understand methods and activities
    • Recommends and implements process improvements that will enhance production and development activities
    • Supports the responsibilities of accurate recording of deposition data and material logs
    • Monitors coating and chamber parameters to ensure the process in under control
    • Remains alert to tool behavior and notifies maintenance of any equipment issues
    • Performs failure analysis to determine root cause and apply appropriate problem solving methods
    • Interfaces with engineering for development processes
    • Frequently works with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for tracking and reporting of data


    Qualifications & Competencies  


    To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:


    • Hands on experience in manufacturing operations and an understanding of manufacturing documentation and quality practices
    • Ability and discipline to follow established procedures
    • Attentive to detail and ability to learn quickly
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Basic computer proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Open availability; must be able to work second shift
    • Displays exemplary ethics and business conduct and performs work cognizant of safe work practices


    Education and/or Experience


    • Working towards or have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science with 0-2 years of directly related experience and/or training


    Citizenship Requirements:

    Due to the type of work at the facility and certain access restrictions, successful applicants must be a U.S. Citizen.
