    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    The International Space Station (ISS) Data Management Coordinator (DMC) is a Payload Operations Integration Center (POIC) flight control position that manages the onboard International Space Station (ISS) data, video, and network systems in the capture and downlink of various types of scientific and operational data that is generated during real-time payload operations. 

     

    The DMC position requires knowledge in communications, networks, and command systems and is responsible for maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the ISS onboard data, video, and network systems that are configured, monitored, and managed to support real-time science payload operations.  The DMC is also involved in console display requirements development, operational procedure development, testing, certification of operations flight readiness, and training. 

     

    The DMC is a command-certified flight controller that reports to the Payload Operations Director (POD) as a member of the Payloads Operations Flight Control Team during realtime operations.  The DMC coordinates data, video, and network related activities with payload developer teams and flight controllers at the Johnson Space Center (JSC) and International Partner (IP) flight controllers from the European and Japanese Space Agencies. 

     

    Shift work is required; the DMC position is staffed 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.

    Qualifications

    Requires a B.S. degree in a recognized field of engineering and a basic knowledge of analysis, design and test techniques with 4 years of experience.  Co-op or related sub-professional experience is desirable, but no mandatory.

     

    Strongly Preferred:

    Experience in networks, engineering, logistics, supply management, and operations integration. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
