    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    The Structural Dynamicist will support Space Systems, and cover a variety of space and defense projects.  The Dynamicist, in cooperation with the Project Lead Engineers and a Senior Dynamics SME, will provide analyses for space-flight vehicles, airframes, systems, and components.  The Dynamicist will document results of analyses and publish reports, and may support Working Groups at NASA MSFC and US Army organizations.



    Job Requirements

    • BS Degree in an engineering/technical discipline
    • 5 yrs minimum experience developing analytical models for structural dynamics of complex structures
    • Able to perform mathematical modeling using finite element and component mode synthesis methods, transient response analysis, and dynamic model correlation and validation
    • Experience performing static structural analysis and Margin of Safety determination
    • Experience developing models for fatigue and fracture performance of structures
    • Experience developing and evaluating shock and vibration models
    • Experience with LS-DYNA, HyperMesh, NASGRO, FEMAP/NASTRAN, VA One
    • Experience with aerospace primary and critical design reviews
    • Experience with dynamic material property modeling and dynamic analysis model validation
    • Finite element model development experience
    • Comfortable extracting models and understanding designs made in current high end CAD packages
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Office, PowerPoint, and Word
    • US Citizen

    Preferred Capabilities/Experience

    • Prefer Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree
    • Prefer advanced degree
    • Hands-on experience developing/producing large space-flight or aircraft hardware and systems
    • Experience working with vendors who support NASA
    • Experience with aerospace component and/or subsystem testing, including an understanding of data systems, instrumentation, and test data analysis is a plus

    Ability to obtain a Security Clearance
