    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Position Summary:

    Provide Reliability and Component Engineering support and solutions for new and ongoing programs within the Imaging organization, focusing on Focal Plane Array-driven system designs, Laser Eye Protection processes and Tactical Cameras.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    Have a high proficiency in and ability to apply Quality and Reliability Engineering techniques and establish a Product Reliability Program.  Responsibilities include:

    • Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) processes
    • Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
    • Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
    • Parts, Material, Process Control Board (PMPCB) Chair
    • Radiation hardness testing
    • EEE parts quality/derating, worst case analysis
    • Parts stress analysis, and hardware/software interaction analysis (HSIA)
    • Reliability Modeling, Allocation, and Prediction
    • Verify design will perform to reliability predictions and predict related attributes (maintainability, availability, service continuity) in conjunction with the design to assess and show compliance with numeric reliability requirements and to support allocation.
    • Conduct Worse Case Analysis (WCA) on the electrical designs to verify that the electronic circuits of components and subassemblies will operate successfully and have adequate design margins
    • Possess project management skills - Ensure establishment of an executable project plan, schedule, budget, resource requirements, and performance standards
    • Drive analysis processes for all failures discovered during reliability testing.
    • Make Reliability assessments of component/ subsystem designs, and influence manufacture / technology selections to ensure mission life reliability targets are achieved
    • Monte Carlo simulations
    • MIL-HDBK-217
    • Be capable of executing/applying root cause analysis at a system level
    • Plan or conduct Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT), Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) or Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS), and reliability demonstration

    Reviews all requests for new components and components to assure that a current part can satisfy the requirements.  Assists design engineers in selections of parts that best fit their applications.

    To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:

    • Ability to take an analytical approach and utilize technical knowledge to solve challenges with optimal solutions
    • Be a critical systems thinker, capable of understanding how a system operates and using available information to make an informed decision on the effects to the system’s reliability
    • Familiarity with and apply reliability tools, e.g. Windchill or ReliaSoft
    • Possess strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills with the ability to manage a reliability program
    • Be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment – high sense of urgency in completing projects
    • Self-starter with the ability to independently pursue information and solve complex problems
    • Be familiar with software reliability prediction methods and Design of Experiment methods
    • Familiarity with other functional disciplines’ modeling, simulation, analysis, and testing techniques, methods, and related processes, e.g. structural, thermal, EEE / EMI / EMC, material science,
    • Can organize and deliver presentations that communicate complex issues simply yet accurately 

     

     

    Education and/or Experience                                             

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering disciplines and 10+ years of relevant work experience
    • 5+ years of experience in design, reliability, maintenance or component engineering
    • Familiar with AS9100 QMS
    • Be proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
    • Ability to travel
    • DoD Clearance or ability to quality is required

     

    Other Qualifications:

    • U.S. Person for access to ITAR-Controlled Technical Data

    ITAR regulations dictate that information and material pertaining to defense and military related technologies may only be shared with US Persons unless authorization from the Department of State is received or a special exemption is used.
