In the DoD arena, Teledyne sensors are integrated into several major systems for persistent surveillance, chemical detection, and target identification, among others.

    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    Teledyne Imaging Sensors is seeking candidates for a Senior Systems Engineering position. In this position the engineer acts as a technical lead for an Engineering team to develop and produce state-of-the-art test capability for visible and infrared imaging products for commercial, space and defense markets.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Assist in the designs and requirements for new hardware and software systems, new system configurations, sub-systems, software and products in support of projects and programs.
    • Attend design reviews of requirements implementation.
    • Assist in customer proposal development with system definition and functional requirements.
    • Assist in prototype development of new systems, new system configurations, software and products.
    • Conduct in-depth troubleshooting and debugging of designs.
    • Support communication of system requirements for systems, new system configurations, sub-systems, software and products both internally and externally with the customer.
    • Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines.

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities                                            

     

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities but may provide technical leadership to lower level engineers including carrying out lead responsibilities in accordance with applicable regulations and laws and the organization’s policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to training employees, planning, assigning, directing work and resolving technically related work problems.

    Education and/or Experience

               

    Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in a related field and 20+ years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Language Skills

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

     

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of solid geometry and trigonometry.

    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

     

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

     

    Computer Skills                                            

     

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of applicable database and ERP software; MS Office including PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, Excel, and Word applications.

    Ability to analyze test data and ability to write analysis software or scripts (e.g. Matlab/Python or similar coding language)

     

    Other Essential Duties

    Follows all import/export requirements, consulting with facility import/export personnel as required.

     

    Other Skills and Abilities

    • Basic Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100
    • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen
    • Knowledge of specific software (design, analysis, ERP…)

     

    Other Qualifications

    • Active Government Security Clearance
    • Ability to travel (domestically/internationally) approximately 10%.
